The most intriguing part of the photographs is the inclusion of a EcoBoost Ford Territory test vehicle. While Ford refuses to comment on whether the vehicle will be released when the updated Territory is launched, it’s great to see they’re testing the waters with the small capacity technology.

Updated spy photographs include pictures of the Territory’s new rear end, which was delayed due to supplier problems.

As first revealed by Pavle.com.au in June, 2009, Ford planned to have a locally modified variant of the 5.0-litre V8 engine codenamed the Coyote from the American Mustang ready for the Euro IV emissions deadline of July 1st, 2010.

Last week Ford made an announcement regarding its six cylinder products, making specific mention of the V8 variants in their press release:

Falcon XR8 sedan and Ute models are not part of this Euro IV upgrade for the FG Falcon range. Details regarding plans for the iconic XR8 nameplate will be revealed at a later date.

Insider sources have informed Pavle.com.au that engineers are having considerable problems with the current drivetrain. The drivetrain is unable to cope with the added power and torque produced by the supercharged engine.

Industry publication, GoAuto also seems to have jumped the gun regarding information obtained from the Department of Transport. The information, initially added to the DOT website is around four months old, produced prior to the issues encountered by the engineers.

Insider sources have also confirmed the originally planned power output figures for the supercharged project, here they are:

• Ford Falcon XR8
  • 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 (Coyote)
  • 315kW @ 6500rpm
• Ford Falcon GT/GT-E/GT-P
  • 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 (Coyote)
  • 330kW @ 6600rpm

  • 351kW @ 6850rpm

The proposed GT-H does away with fog lights and uses induction ports for the supercharger. Sources have suggested LED driving lamps would be used in place of fog lights, similar to those fitted to the HSV E2 Series.

While tyre width is still unclear and an issue that continuously dogs Ford’s performance arm, a source has suggested tyre widths will remain unchanged, despite the significant power upgrades.

It is unclear when Ford plans to release more information regarding the Coyote supercharged V8 project. As it stands, Ford can no longer produce or sell any non Euro IV compliant vehicles beyond the June 30th cut-off date.

The design will remain predominantly unchanged, with only wheels being shuffled around the FPV range. Expect the 5th Anniversary FPV GT wheels to make their way to either the GT-P or GT-E.

If it wasn’t enough that CarAdvice brought you exclusive scoop photos of the 2012 Ford Ranger ‘T6? interior, the CarAdvice spies have provided us with exclusive scoop photos of the 2012 Ford Ranger ‘T6? engine and undercarriage.

Speculation earlier last year suggested that Ford engineers would continue with independent front suspension, but it was unclear what they would do with the rear.

We can exclusively tell you the 2012 Ford Ranger ‘T6? will feature independent double wishbone front suspension with coil springs, while the rear will use semi-elliptic leaf springs with dampers.

While the leaf spring rear suspension does nothing for ride and handling, it will help retain the Ranger’s impressive 3000kg towing capacity. Rear drum brakes also remain on the Ranger, it’s likely that rear disc brakes won’t make it to the production model.

Ford Australia has been awarded the job of developing and designing the 2012 Ford Ranger ‘T6?. Ford Motor Company of Australia representative, Sinead McAlary told CarAdvice:

Ford Australia announced in 2006 that it had won the work to be the lead design and engineering centre for the development of the T6 platform, off which the next generation Ranger comes from.

The first “top hat” from that platform is the next Ranger and FOA has led the design and engineering of that vehicle as well - right here in Melbourne and at our proving ground in Lara. We’ve also had significant input into the Mazda variant that comes off the same platform. It has been a major program of work for the company over the last number of years.

One of the key complaints issued with the outgoing Ford Ranger and Mazda BT-50 was the width of the vehicle. The B-series of utes that share the Ranger and BT-50 model designations were always limited to Japan’s 1.7m width limitations.

As you can see by these spy photos, the width has clearly increased. The increase in width suggests a vehicle that will compete squarely with the HiLux, Navara et al. in terms of size.

It’s clearly hard to see the exact shape of the 2012 Ford Ranger ‘T6? body, courtesy of clever padding used to obscure the lines, but one thing’s for sure, it will have an Australian design influence. With regards to the markets that will receive the new Ranger, Ms. McAlary told CarAdvice:

…The next generation Ford Ranger is a global vehicle and will be sold in more than 100 countries worldwide, including Australia. The only ‘major’ market that won’t be receiving it at the moment is North America. It will definitely be sold here though.

Our sleuth spies have also snapped scoop photos of one of the engines to be used in the 2012 Ford Ranger ‘T6?.

Although speculation suggests that the 2012 Ford Ranger ‘T6? will use a 1.6-litre variant of the new line of Ford global EcoBoost engines, we believe the Ranger will utilise the 2.0-litre variant of the EcoBoost engine. The upcoming Volkswagen Amorak will hit the ground running with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the 2012 Ford Ranger ‘T6? is likely to be the same if it is to compete on level ground.

Pictured on this production prototype is Ford’s 3.2 litre Puma turbocharged diesel engine. It will replace the current 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The 3.2 litre Puma engine produces 150kW and an impressive 470Nm of torque. It can currently be found in the Ford Transit.

Insider sources also suggest two other engines will be available in the Ranger. A 2.2 litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine (also codenamed Puma) and a 2.5 litre Duratec petrol engine (identical to engine currently used in Mazda3) will also be available, in addition to the 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine mentioned above.

Transmissions expected to make it to launch are the MT75 (five-speed manual gearbox), MT82 (six-speed manual gearbox produced by Getrag) and the 6R80 (six-speed fuel efficient automatic gearbox).

Insider sources have also suggested that the Ford Ranger will be available with leather seats (optional) and a reversing camera.

Our spy photographers have snapped exclusive photographs of the interior of the 2011 Ford Ranger.

Codenamed the T6, Ford Australia is developing the Ford Ranger for worldwide consumption.

These exclusive photos show a right-hand-drive version of the Ford Ranger, fitted out with the interior that will make the final production model. The interior Pavle.com.au spied recently was of a mule, this time around the interior represents the final product.

A Ford insider told CarAdvice earlier last year that the T6 Ranger would feature car-like levels of fit and finish. These exclusive pictures show a Fiesta-esque interior.

Featuring the same steering wheel as the Fiesta, in addition to a similar centre stack layout, it’s a sure bet that the 2011 Ford Ranger will launch with Ford SYNC and an LCD screen for upper models. The LCD screen also allows the fitting of a reversing camera.

After breaking news of a supercharged FPV in June, 2009, Pavle.com.au photographers have snapped the next installment in FPV’s feisty line-up. Either that or it’s the lead vehicle in Back to the Future IV.

It’s common knowledge that FPV will ditch the BOSS V8 in July this year due to emissions regulations. In place of the well-served BOSS V8 will be the all new V8 developed in America for the Ford Mustang. According to sources within Ford, Ford will name the supercharged FPV the GT-H. What makes the vehicle pictured above so unique is that it’s the first manufacturer application of a supercharged Coyote V8 anywhere in the world.

The task of handling the supercharging effort has been left with the nut-job engineers at FPV who have graced us with things like the XR6 Turbo and F6 310. I don’t know about you guys, but that to me can only mean one thing – fun.

Along with wider rear tyres to cope with extra power (expect around 275mm, up from the current 245mm offering), quad exhaust pipes will be fitted to all Coyote laden FPVs and the XR8 or its replacement. In addition to the quad exhaust pipes, the GT-H ringleader will feature dual inlets on the front bumper bar, suggesting an intercooled supercharger will be used to belt extra power out of the 5.0-litre V8.

The red vehicle spotted back in June, 2009 by our eagle eyed spy photographers was an early development mule. The blue vehicle pictured above appears to be undergoing final testing in preparation for a circa July launch. While out photographers simply raved about the supercharger whine back in 2009, this time around they have captured audio of the supercharged Falcon undergoing acceleration testing – make sure you listen to the exhaust.

In addition to rumours suggesting the uptake of the GT-H nameplate, Ford may also ditch the XR8 nameplate, opting instead for XR50, signifying the 5.0-litre engine capacity.

The Ford Ranger (dubbed the T6) is expected to be ready for the 2012 model year.

Ford Australia is engineering the T6 Ranger with a 2.0-litre variant of the EcoBoost I4 four-cylinder engine. Predicted to produce around 170kW and 325Nm of torque, the engine will provide plenty of torque for the Ranger’s main applications.

In addition to the petrol EcoBoost engine, Ford will retain the 3.0-litre Durtorq 3.0-litre TDCi engine currently in use. The EcoBoost engine will feature Ford’s dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission, in addition to a six-speed manual option.

From the photos, it’s quite clear this mule is still in the early stages of development. The interior fittings suggest new switchgear and centre console for the Ranger, giving it a more upmarket feel from the current offering.

The dark coloured Ranger test mules are fitted with the EcoBoost engine, while the white coloured Ranger test mules are fitted with the Duratorq diesel engine.

Cleverly disguised as Mazdas, the entire fleet of Ranger T6 test mules features Mazda BT50 headlights and body features in an attempt to keep interest at bay.

“Our spy photographers have been at it again, this time around catching Ford testing the long awaited Ford Territory Diesel.

Although this pair of white Territorys look identical to most other Territorys on the road, it takes an eagle eye to spot the glaring differences.

If you have a look at the front end, the front-mount intercooler is visible, as is a side mounted radiator – which has had a fog light removed for extra breathing room.”
